I hope everyone recovered well from Thanksgiving and that you all were able to spend the beautiful weekend with family and friends.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to participate in live fire training with Zorra Township. It was a great day with 4 burns and a lot of skill practice – in real life situations and in this case, in a lot of heat too! We used a lot of the tools that are essentials during structure fires to gain the advantage – Leader fans, TFT nozzles, Bullard thermal imaging cameras, and Cutters Edge ventilation saws. Being a volunteer firefighter myself, I see the huge benefit that these trainings provide by keeping us familiar with the tools we are using. They make all the difference with efficiency once the tones go off – seconds do count.
I’d like to thank Chief John McFarlane for having us – I hope your guys had as much fun as we did. Also, Jeff Goarley for asking me to be a part of it (maybe next time it can be a little further east!).
