As the days get shorter and the temperature starts to drop, we are constantly reminded the end of the year is rapidly approaching. Although some aspects of the year are winding down, the rash of new SCBA deliveries is still in full swing, and in some respects, just getting started. In response to the new NFPA standards, Scott Safety introduced the Air-Pak® X3™ SCBA. The response and demand has been overwhelming not only in Ontario, but across the country.

M&L Supply has already completed several complete customer changeovers and is awaiting the delivery of several more near the end of this year or early 2015 depending on manufacturing time.

Once deliveries are received, our dedicated team of

Going “live” with new SCBA equipment is the day most customers are excited about, many of whom have spent countless hours in budget meetings getting the approval for new equipment, many times speaking with financial staff who don’t have the knowledge of the intricacies of SCBA. One such customer actually brought the municipality’s Financial Manager to the fire station in order to review their current SCBA model to the proposed Scott X3 and all the benefits the department will realize.

Regardless of how the approval process is accomplished, one thing is the same…..state of the art SCBA equipment will be in place to help protect firefighters as they serve the residents and visitors of their communities.

I have talked mostly about “new” SCBA so far….have you ever wondered what happens to the old equipment afterwards? Depending on how the SCBA project is prepared by the customer, the old equipment may, or may not be traded in as part of the process.

If the equipment is traded in, M&L Supply’s Scott Safety Certified Service Technicians perform a complete inventory of all the equipment and accessories. SCBA units that are suitable for sale in terms of age, condition, etc, are completely bench-tested as per NFPA. This used equipment option is often utilized by customers who wish to supplement their current inventory perhaps a little longer while they wait for their SCBA project approval.
